The hierarchical simulation experiment method is presented to solve the problem of the large uncertain space analysis difficulties existing in missiles engagement simulation. Its focus is how to design simulation experiments according to the uncertainty hierarchical structure. First the disadvantages of the traditional simulation experiment method are presented. Then a general procedure for the hierarchical simulation experiment method is described, including classification of uncertainty hierarchies, construction of simulation models, design of experiments, and analysis of experiments results in a rational way. With a case study of Theater Missile Defense simulation, the application of the hierarchical simulation experiment method is demonstrated in detail.
