摘要

The quality movement is fragmented into three ways: 1) Quality related endeavours in academia and industry have few relationships with respect to organizations, personnel, and exchange of information. 2) In academia, quality is a subject of several disciplines, like management science, engineering, statistics. 3) In industrial companies, quality control and quality assurance are local phenomena in departments like R&D, manufacturing, sales, maintenance, logistics, often without adequate links, and without an integrating global framework. SQM (stochastics for the quality movement) is an approach to overcome fragmentation in the quality movement and to integrate local particular endeavours into a global scheme. This paper discusses further problems resulting from the fragmented situation, and suggests ways of solution: 1) The idea of an SQM library as an effective contribution to distribute expert knowledge among all agents in the quality movement. 2) The situation of industrial data management as an obstacle as well as a challenge for SQM research. 3) Transmission of variation as one of the central topics of SQM research.
