Sample size is an important factor to be considered in determining mean values of soil parameters. The authors have proposed to determine sample size based both on Type Ⅰ and Ⅱ errors in statistical hypothesis testing. In the previous study, however, only independent samples were considered. In the present study, spatially correlated samples are considered in the same framework. It is found that the spatial autocorrelation structure of soil parameters and layer thickness are dominant factors in determining the sample size.
