摘要

This paper is focused on the study of a particular permanent deformation of wood known as Compression Set Shrinkage. This kind of deformation is shown when wood is subjected to MC variations while deformation is prevented. Because of applying the whole research for a better comprehension of the painted panels conservation, we have chosen to investigate Poplar wood (P. alba, L.) across the grain. A phenomenological description of the initial tests is presented. A quantitative analysis of the tests is still in progress.
