Colored metal smelting and Cholor-alkai productions are major mercury sources in the study areas. This work investigated mercury contents in plants and arthropods collected from the grass-belt ecosystem along the river in the combined pollution zone. Total mercury contents ranged from 0.013 to 0.154mg·kg<'1> for Locusta and from 0.029 to 0.134mg·kg<'-1> for Cryllus Chinensis. Total mercury in Locusta collected in the study areas was lower than that in plant leaves and Cryllus Chi-nensis. Mercury contents in arthropods were obviously higher than those in non-polluted areas. Mercury could transport through the plant-arthropod food chain.
