This paper analyses information on observing external deformation of Wanjiazai main dam, and the conclusion holds that operation status for this dam is normal at present,variation rule of deformation on dam basically accord well with design theory of concrete gravity dam and different variation rules for such same kind gravity dams, the status of the interlayer shear zone of dam foundation is stable. But the continuity of horizontal displace-ment at crest is bad, the integrality and precision of 1#, 7# vertical group are worse too. It's suggested that the problem for vertical observation on 1# dam section.
