Shooting and bouncy rays (SBR) formula of coating radar absorbing material (RAM) surface was proposed and radar cross sections (RCS) of the straight inlet,S-shaped inlet without coating and with coating were calculated.S-shaped inlet was divided into 10 regions along the axis,and the amount of reflecting points was accumulated to determine the scattering contribution of different regions. The region with the largest contribution was the best coating position.RCS results show that S-shaped inlet with coating can reduce RCS significantly compared to straight inlet,and the best coating position of S-shaped inlet is middle segment. This method is simple and effective for engineering.
