Prediction of Nep on Cotton Yarn Produced by Ring Spun Process

In this work, we used the statistical and artificial neural network methods to predict the neps of ring spun cotton yarn with ring spinning process parameters. Our results show that the neps of ring spun cotton yarns are determined by the process parameters (front roller speed, spindle speed, nip gauge, back draft zone time, and aperture of guide wire). The results also show that the neps of ring spun cotton yarns with spin can be well predicted. The results show that the ANN model yields more accurate and stable predictions than that of statistical model, which indicates that the ANN theory is an effective and viable modeling method.
