In this research, Recycled jute fabric cloth as inner and glass fabric cloth as outer skin layers and the jute mat as a thick core were used as hybrid fiber reinforcements for unsaturated polyester matrix composites via modifying the hand lay-up technique with resin pre-impregnation into the fabrics in vacuum. The effect of the fiber weight contents (30, 50, 58 wt%) on the tensile and bending properties were investigated and were compared with those of jute mat composites with and without outer skin jute cloth fabrics and the notch sensitivity of these composites was also investigated. These comparisons showed that adding the jute cloth and glass cloth as skin layers has improved the tensile and bending properties with respect to those of jute mat composites. While the notch sensitivity increased by adding jute cloth with respect to the jute mat composites and decreased by adding glass cloth as inner skin layers compared to the jute mat composites with jute cloth as outer skin layers.
