This work presents a novel method for causality verification and enforcement of scattering parameters (S-parameters) which may result from computational electromagnetic tools and are often required in performing transient simulations of electromagnetic systems, including antennas. We propose a method which uses a first order Chebyshev filter, derive the exact expression of truncation error, and perform a thorough error analysis of the numerical implementation of the Hilbert transform based on frequency-normalized and magnitude-normalized plots of absolute error due to a) truncation error and b) discretization error. The proposed technique, summarized as an algorithm, operates on the sampled frequency responses, without the need for extrapolation.
