Parametric amplifier utilizes nonlinear and/or time variant properties of reactive elements (capacitors and/or inductors) to amplify radio frequency signals. A new hybrid topology containing a parametric amplifier and an antenna is presented. A pair of varactor diodes, as nonlinear reactors, are incorporated in the structure of a slot antenna on the side wall of a rectangular cavity resonator to amplify the received signal. A hybrid simulation (full wave simulation by (HFSS) and circuit simulation by (ADS) software packages) is used to simulate the entire antenna structure including radiating element and nonlinear amplifying elements. The simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed parametric antenna.
