Geheyan Reservoir area locates in the mountainous area of western Hubei, with complicated geological environment, which is prone to geological disaster.And landslide is the most common disaster in the reservoir area.In this paper, the development law and major controlling factors of the landslide in the reservoir area are analyzed by starting from the relationship among the landslide time, spatial-temporal distribution features, landform, formation lithology, rainfall, water level variation, etc.based on the statistics and analysis of the previous geological disaster investigation, which is of certain guiding significance for the landslide disaster prevention and control in the reservoir area.
