In order to decrease the inter-carrier interference (ICI) caused by the Pulse Blanking (PB), which is considered as an efficient method to combat impulsive interference, a Time Domain Interleaving upgraded PB (TDI-PB) is investigated for future aeronautical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The proposed TDI-PB focuses on the desired signals blanked with impulsive interference simultaneously. When all contaminated samples are blanked by PB, those useful signals also blanked by PB could be reconstructed by a linear interpolation. Since continuous blanked samples caused by PB will degrade interpolation seriously, to this end time domain interleave has to be deployed in TDI-PB mechanism. Analytical and simulation results illustrate that the proposed mechanism could effectively combat impulsive noise with negligible ICI and low computational complexity comparing to the original PB scheme.
