摘要

Palaeobotanical and geological studies are the basic source of information on changes in site conditions throughout the mire development process. The research was conducted on eight raised mires in Poland. At each site a stratigraphic crossection of the peat deposit was made and the existing vegetation was assessed. At the spots where peat deposits were drilled samples were taken for further detailed determination of plant macrofossils and for chemical analyses. On the basis of plant macro-remains the succession of subfossil vegetation was reconstructed. This enabled to determine changes in palaeohydrological conditions. The results of the study permit to formulate general principles concerning procedures to safeguard mire ecosystems.
