The objective of the present study is to investigate the cavitation performance of a mini turbo-pump having impeller diameter of 36 mm. If we think about the application of the mini pump to integrated heat-control systems, not only hydraulic performance but also cavitation performance is a key factor for the reliable operation. In the present cavitation experiments, two centrifugal impellers of ns = 300 (rpm, m~3/min, m) and Ds = 0.3 (m, m~3/min, m) have been used: one is a closed impeller and the other is a semi-open impeller. The test results demonstrate that those mini pumps are comparable in cavitation performance with usual size pumps. They have also clarified that the cavitation performance as well as hydraulic performance of the closed impeller are better than that of the semi-open impeller.
