In recent years, scope of Chinese government subsidy expands unceasingly and the excessive investment behavior of enterprises is increasing continuously. To study the inhibitory effect of internal control during government subsidies promoting overinvestment, taking Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share manufacturing listed companies from 2013 to 2018 as research samples, this paper adopts multiple regression analysis method to test the moderating effect of internal control on the influence of government subsidies on enterprises' excessive investment. I find empirical support for that government subsidies promote firms to overinvest, and good internal control can reduce the positive impact of government subsidies on overinvestment. Furthermore, in the enterprises with low product market competition intensity or no political connection, the regulating effect of the internal control is more significant.
