This paper deals with a very common but, in the same time, a very sensitive problem and controversial one, with different opinions of the specialized doctrine - the principles of Criminal Law. Some of these principles are detailed in the study. The analysis is structured according to one particular opinion expressed in the Romanian Criminal Law literature. Three categories of principles were identified: principles derived from the fundamental principles of law, principles derived from criminal law policy and basic principles of criminal law.
