Altimeter and scatterometer wind speed/velocity data are very important for various applications including data assimilation and verification of numerical weather prediction model. Continuous monitoring and verification of such products are routinely carried out to ensure their high quality at all times. Results for verification against global ECMWF model predictions and in-situ data are presented. Proper random error estimation is done using the triple collocation technique. Measures to alleviate the impact of error correlations between various data sources, especially between the scatterometer and model data due to assimilating the former into the latter, are needed to ensure the success of triple collocation. Preliminary results without accounting for error correlations are presented as the first step in this work.
