Saudi Aramco's Southern Area Oil Operations (SAOO) organization is one of several Company areas that contain hydrocarbons producing, processing, and support facilities. SAOO has set an ambitious plan to maintain capability and readiness to meet current and future demands, all while minimizing its impact on the environment and reducing its consumption of resources. Saudi Aramco encourages its organizations to place great focus on environmental performance, with special emphasis on reducing the Company's environmental footprint. Being cognizant of its activities as well as Company direction, SAOO actively seeks innovative approaches to continue to achieve better environmental performance. In early 2019, SAOO devised Innovation~(Plus), a new approach that focuses on further fostering the culture of innovation at SAOO by increasing one-on-one engagement with employees; accelerating the process of reaching desired results from promising ideas. The setting for Innovation~(Plus) is a competition-based one that resembles the setting of Shark Tank, winch is a very famous TV show, where well prepared individuals pitch or present their ideas to a number of venture capitalists to convince them to select and invest in their ideas. This approach was selected to make the experience more appealing, and to stoke the spirit of competition among SAOO departments. The way Innovation~(Plus) works is for an external panel of experts to engage SAOO idea presenters, then score and rank the presented ideas, with the aim of maximizing benefits from all ideas. This paper describes SAOO's Innovation~(Plus) approach, details the methodology, and highlights a number of the adopted innovations and their positive environmental impacts.
