This paper studies the effect of adding phase change material (PCM) slabs on the outside face ofa refrigerated locker evaporator. A three-dimensional (3D) model was developed in ANSYSFLUENT to investigate the performance of refrigerated locker. The holding time and thetemperature distribution of refrigerated locker with PCM slabs were investigated. The resultsindicate that the energy stored in the PCM is released to the storage compartment during the off -cycle and facilitates continuous operation for several hours without power supply. The holding timeof the refrigerated locker with PCM slabs increased by 586.79% as compared to that of therefrigerated locker without PCM slabs when no power was provided. The addition of PCM slabs ledto a noticeable reduction in the temperature gradient within the refrigerated locker, ensuring betterconservation conditions.
