The AC loss of Bi_(2-x)Pb_xSr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_(10)/Ag (x chemical bounds 0, 0.3, 0.34) monofilamentary tapes were measured at 77 K under alternating magnetic field (50 Hz) with the peak magnitude range from 1 mT to 170 mT. The results show that the AC losses of Pb-doped samples are much les than that of undoped smaples. When the content of Pb is 0.3, the sample exhibits lower energy dissipation. As the content increases to 0.34, the AC loss increases, too. Careful control of Pb content can lower the AC loss. SOme Bi2223/Ag tapes prepared by different processes were also investigated under the same condition as the Pb-doped smaples. The experiments indicate that the AC loss can be increased by about 50
