Why Tuina Anmo - what is the difference to the western bodywork? The Chinese word for traditional manual therapy is Tuina-Anmo (TNAM), which is named after four important techniques: push-pull, lift, press and touch. TNAM is one of the five branches of TCM. The other four are acupuncture, herbal medicine, food therapyand Qi Gong. The practice of TNAM is closely related to the other branches and TNAM uses the Traditional Chinese Medical theory of the flow of Qi through the channels as its basic therapeutic orientation. Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques Tuina seeks to establish more harmonious flow of Qi through the channels and collaterals, allowing the body to naturally heal itself.
