In order to produce the high grade electric magnetic steels,desulphurization technology in the Single Snorkel Refining Furnace (SSRF) was developed,which has been successfully applied for the production of ultra low carbon steel.The industrial tests of desulphurization technology in SSRF were run in Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Company.The results show that the desulphurization degree increases with the increase in the desulphurization agent consumption.High desulphurization degree can be achieved when the desulphurization agent consumption exceeds 5 kg/ton.The desulphurization degree in SSRH is much higher than that in RH-adding even at lower consumption of desulphurization agent.High desulphurization degree of 70 % can be achieved stably when the gas flow rate exceeds 350 Nl/min.Compared with the RH-adding,SSRF achieves lower and stable final sulfur,the average consumption of desulphurization agent and the average gas flow rate are greatly decreased.
