Euler-Euler simulation of the gas-liquid flow in a continuous casting mold with large eddy simulation (LES) is presented.The sub-grid scale modeling is based on the Smagorinsky model with the model constant Cs=0.1.The drag force and non-drag forces (lift force,virtual mass force and turbulent dispersion force) are incorporated in the model.Characteristics of the two phase flow in a slab continuous casting mold are obtained with this model.The ultrasonic testing results and industrial observation of "exposed eye"are used to validate the model.The simulation results show that the flow of molten steel and argon gas are all deviation.With the decrease of the argon bubble diameter,more and more bubbles would gather in the upper of the mold,and the penetrating length of the gas plume is extended.When injecting argon gas,the vorticity strength of upper region of the mold become intense,but in the lower of the mold,the effect of swirl flow become disappearing.And with the decrease of the diameter,the impingement spot of molten steel move up near the region of narrow face,and the region of vorticity disappear becomes larger.
