The decision by the UAE to embark on a nuclear energy program from a position of no internal capability or infrastructure to having operation nuclear power reactors for the peaceful use of nuclear energy was considered a remarkable challenge. However, the UAE model is now considered as a gold standard for new comer states. Equally, KUSTAR and KAIST have embarked on a similar road and are committed to setting a gold standard model to building a new university based nuclear engineering department.
