People learn decision making most effectively through trial-and-error and game-based simulation provides the opportunity to make mistakes for "free" where lives and property are not at risk. In short, a game-based training environment can provide the full context in which the skills are used within graphic portrayals that deliver experiential understanding of the trainees' consequences for their decisions and actions. This results in learner engagement on an intellectual and emotional level - for greater depth, intensity, and persistence of learning.
