Impacts of the Training Accreditation review at EDF Energy. An interim assessment

EDF Energy conducted a review of its Training Accreditation process in the United Kingdom after 12 years of using ACAD objectives and a loose mirroring of the INPO accreditation model. Using a group of in-house Training and independent oversight experts a revised process was mandated and rolled out in 2017. This paper outlines the impacts of the changes. EDF Energy began its accreditation journey in 2005 rebuilding processes programs and infrastructure as part of its Performance Improvement Program (PIP). Between 2009 and 2013 all 138 training programs across all 8 stations and central engineering achieved full initial accreditation. WANO recognized our progress in the 2012 corporate peer review awarding EDF a strength in Training. Having completed the first cycle of training accreditation renewal by 2017 with all reaccredited stations achieving either blue or green status in 2016 it was clear that allied to sustained training investment over the decade where SAT had been embedded there was a definite link to performance improvement. This was complemented by improved line and fleet oversight.
