The evolution of the Emergency Procedure (EP) and Severe Accident Guidelines (SAG) has been driven by the resolution of technical issues, operating experience, and maturation of the boiling water reactor (BWR) international fleet. In response to these factors the Boiling Water Reactor Owners Group (BWROG) has responded with periodic updates of their guidance. The most recent revision has been released for use; this now places the burden of implementing these changes on the various utilities that possess BWRs within their fleets. Although significant technical expertise is provided to the industry via the BWROG, there is a significant challenge related to the management of the changes within each operating facility. This presentation is a case study to provide insights and potential resolutions; to assist utilities in the technically correct, timely, and efficient implementation of the changes required by BWROG EP/SAG Revision 4.
