Established in 2011, the Gulf Nuclear Energy Infrastructure Institute (GNEII) provides a regional mechanism for developing responsible nuclear energy infrastructure. Combining education and research, GNEII helps increase knowledge and expertise about nuclear energy infrastructure, including safety, safeguards, and security (3S), among Gulf and Middle East professionals working in regional nuclear-power programs. GNEII is affiliated with the Nuclear Engineering Department at Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
