Asset management is switching from a best management practice to a regulatory driven requirement. This presentation will provide the historical background on asset management starting with development of the 2000 International Infrastructure Management Manual to the 2014 ISO 55000 asset management standards. We will discuss what asset management is and what industry best practices are. We will focus on state and federal requirements of an asset management. We will provide an update on the states that are requiring asset management programs. We will talk through the regulations for Indiana, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Michigan. We will talk through how these states align with US EPA and WERF best practice guidance documents. We will discuss the specifics for each state, and how the requirements are being enforced. We will discuss how utilities are conducting a gap analysis to demonstrate compliance and how large and small utilities are implementing asset management programs.
