From ADAS to Autonomous Vehicles: A Discussion Based on a Survey in Japan

摘要

In order to investigate social acceptability of CAV, we conducted a web based survey in Japan. The survey was conducted in October 2016. Totally, 1480 samples were collected by focusing ADAS experience and age. The first part of the study focuses on factors affecting the ADAS vehicle sales. Then, the discussion moves to acceptance of autonomous vehicles. The analysis and discussion are based on the personal attributes, driving characteristics, and social respects. As the conclusion, ADAS diffusion is not affected by age but ADAS experiences, drivers' behavior, and consciousness. Furthermore, in order to promote autonomous vehicles, the most important thing is legislation making the traffic accident responsibilities clearly.
