The effect of the dispersion and interface of nano-Mg(OH)2 on the mechanical properties and flame retardancy of elastomer composites was studied.The results show that the better dispersion and the stronger interfacial interaction between nano-Mg(OH)2 and elastomer result in the better mechanical properties.The higher the viscosity or surface energy of the matrix, the better the dispersion of nano-Mg(OH)2, and the stronger the filler network forms.Surface treatment of nano-Mg(OH)2 can greatly improve the dispersion and interface of nano-Mg(OH)2.Nano-Mg(OH)2 shows better reinforcement and flame retardancy compared to micron ones.
