Enterprise Transformation is a developmenta strategy for performance improvement that is attracting the attention of senior executives in industrial firms and government agencies world-wide.These efforts to plan and design the enterprise of the future are resulting in a renewed interest in re-engineering. However, this time rather than “process” it's “enterprise” re-engineering. The enterprise engineering process is driven by assessment-based planning,system architecting and performance modeling --- tools that are very familiar to innovative Industrial and Systems Engineers. What do these emerging trends portend for the Industrial Engineering profession? Perhaps they suggest the emergence of a new branch that might be called "Enterprise Engineering".
