The suppliers for health care providers perform their procurement process in a time, quality and cost sensitive setting. Splitting one large order quantity into smaller deliveries or allocating it simultaneously to multiple suppliers is believed to result in significant cost savings. Most of the inventory models, which were developed in the last few decades, also assume that an inventory item is replenished from a single supplier. This research study analyzes the multiple-supplier multiple-item case with stochastic lead times. The mathematical model is solved using an improved evolutionary strategy algorithm due to the computational complexity of non-linear integer programming model formulation.
