Virtual reality (VR) has become a heat in technological research domain. In this respect, a walkthrough engine is developed for a VR system. Firstly, the VegaTM-enabled collision detection algorithm is established between the viewpoint and scene. Next, a mouse-enabled method is investigated for walkthrough engine to control the virtual environment. Finally, a case study on coal-face simulation of Changcun Colliery is used to validate the proposed VR system. Therefore, the walkthrough engine has proven its pragmatic effectiveness.
