The size of scraper spacing affects the efficiency of the scraper conveyer transportation. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the scraper spacing reasonably. In this paper, a rather comprehensive equation of scraper thrusting force is obtained by the analysis of the process under stress when the scraper moves the material in the load side of the scraper conveyer and the consideration of the friction force that both sides of the material triangular prism body in the scraper get. Afterwards, the formula that describes the scraper spacing is deduced and the factors which affect the scraper spacing are analyzed. And the relationships between the scraper spacing and both the scraper chain and material movement resistance in the load side and the chain movement resistance in the non-load side of the scraper conveyer are analyzed. Then the optimization of scraper spacing is fulfilled which minimizes the resistance of operation.
