Simulation of Liquid Atomization in Cyclone Atomizer Based on VOF-DPM Coupling Model

The atomizer is the key equipment in the oil mist lubrication system. Currently, the system usually use venturi tubes for atomization, but the efficiency is not high. In this paper, a cyclone atomizer was used as the research object. The vof-dpm Coupling model, the new module in Fluent 19.0, was used to simulate the atomization process of gasoline from continuous phase to discrete phase. The velocity distribution at different cross sections of the cyclone atomizer was calculated, and the velocity variation regulation of air and gasoline interation was summarized. In addition, the diameter distribution of gasoline droplets was obtained. The diameter was between 3 micrometers and 150 micrometers so that the atomization performance of cyclone atomizer is good. The results of this study provide a reference for the optimal design of the atomizer.
