Most people involved in fuel cells today would agree that practical applications are most likely to come in the portable arena. The historical focus on automotive and stationary applications has led to a number of requirements for membranes, membrane electrode assemblies, and other fuel cell components. Some of these requirements should be re-examined in the light of portable power goals. Protonex has developed manufacturing technology for PEM and DMFC stacks that dramatically reduces the cost of these systems, while improving their size, weight, and reliability. Currently focused on 10 to 3,000 watts, we offer stacks to system integrators and other fuel cell systems partners.
