Abstract: A unique process has been developed to mold precision plastic optical ferrules using a DuPont proprietary liquid crystal polymer. Optical performance of the plastic ferrules is similar to ceramic ferrules for single mode applications. This paper describes the unique molding process, the polymer system, and the optical performance of this novel plastic ferrule. !3
