摘要

During the installation of a directionally drilled river crossing the coating is subject to high soil stress andpotential coating damage. Tough, flexible coatings are needed to minimize coating damage duringinstallation. Dual powder fusion bond epoxy (FBE) coatings met these rigorous demands.Dual powder FBE coatings are easily applied in most coating facilities setup for FBE. Two layers dualpowder systems are applied consecutively usually in the same electrostatic spray gun chamber. Surfacepreparation, pre-coating inspection, and post-coating inspection are similar to standard FBE coating.Field weld joint coatings were applied using either liquid epoxies or a modified dual powder fusion bondepoxy coating application. Coating damage caused by dragging the piping across the ice was minimal.
