The brake system has two primary functions to perform in an aircraft. The first is to absorb kinetic energy of the moving aircraft by converting it into heat and stop the aircraft with a minimum stop distance. The second function is to hold the aircraft stationery against engine thrust. The brake system should also have a minimum wear for long service life with uniform friction co-efficient.
