It is clear from world's energy scenario, that there is no option but to go for non-convensional energy resources. Among all these sources, solar energy is the democratic energy, available for all, at all the corners, while others have limitations. Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) Water Pumping is the latest and widest field of application. Thousands of SPV unit are being operated in the country. One such unit was tested and evaluated for its performance at Jabalpur (23.11°N, 75.98°E, 393 m altitude) on daily, monthly and seasonal basis. A constant dependable discharge of 1.1 to 4.20 lps was observed. Covering an area of 0.1 to 3.5 ha under different crops in different seasons. Though, the system is having many merits and is eco-friendly, it is not widely accepted. Apprantly, its initial high cost seems to be the reason for the above, but actually indicous use of this precious technology and its evaluation in right prospect, global norms of economics, is not conceived. It is impertave that there is a need to find the proper economics and alternate ways for the output. The pump was tried with check basin and drip irrigation methods for vegetables and fruit crops. The drips was found to be the most efficient system of irrigation. More remnurative vegetables as well as fruits crops were considered and the command area under these crops was worked out. This provides a choice to the userftenefishory.
