Electrochemical method has been employed in the present study to treat the saline wastewater. Under batch conditions several aspects such as current density, electrodes, salinity are explored to determine effect on the treatment efficiency. For wastewater containing high biodegradable organic content, current density for above three types of electrodes has to be high (5 amp /dm~2) to achieve a substantial elimination of NH_4~+ as well as for the maximum removal of COD. Among the different types of electrode materials used graphite has given equally good results like oxide coated Ti electrodes. The results generated during the experimental phase will be used to develop an electrochemical treatment method for the effective removal of pollutants from the sewer water at minimum consumption of energy. For be more suitable to improve and process, dynamic conditions would be more suitable to improve and rationalize the conditions. The work is under progress in flow conditions.
