摘要

The COMPASS experiment has successfully been commissioned in 2001 and a first full period of data taking in 2002 yielded a large data sample. During 2002 the availability of the experiment was high and the spectrometer operated reliably. About 20 % of the data were taken with transverse target polarisation. In 2003 and 2004 COMPASS will run for about 80-100 days per year, depending on the schedule of the CERN SPS. CERN accelerators will be shut down during 2005. CERN has made provision for COMPASS running in the years 2006-2010. However, the filial approval has to wait until COMPASS has spelled out the programme for this period in detail.
