摘要

Guided waves are increasingly used for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of structures; their attractions include speed of inspection and their ability to penetrate inaccessible regions. However developments of guided wave methods are relatively complex because of the existence of multiple frequency-dispersive modes. Successful development depends on a thorough knowledge of which modes may propagate in a structure, their velocity-frequency dispersion relations, and their profiles of stresses and displacements. The authors have developed a general purpose computer model which they have used for a wide variety of studies during the past ten years or so. The paper describes the function of the model in outline, and illustrates its use on some NDT applications.
