It is emphasised that the comparison of Complex Impedance Spectroscopy (CIS) and of Thermally Stimulated Current (TSC) helps to gain a better understanding on the electrical response of ionic solids. More particularly, it allows us to isolate the "pure" dielectric contribution from the whole electrical signal. It is pointed out that the analysis of the dielectric behaviour can lead to obtain important information about the localisation of ions into a given structure and to determine the energy which characterises the interaction between ions and their surrounding network. Thus, for instance, the impact of the cationic exchange in zeolite or in oxide glasses can be quantified. Also, we show it can be a starting point for modelling ionic displacement mechanisms as well as, in a broader scope, the nature of ionic bonds in solids.
