摘要

The electronic structure and surface composition of LiMn_2O_4 has been studied by photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS, UPS). The XPS measurements show that manganese ions are formed in two oxidation states: a trivalent state (Mn~(3+)) as well as a tetravalent state (Mn~(4+)). The photoemission intensity ratio of Mn~(3+) to Mn~(4+) is about 0.9. UPS results show that the Mn ions are in high spin configuration.
