摘要

The NATO Advanced Study Institute aimed at presenting an integrated and coherent view of recent developments and prospects for the use of natural gas as a fuel or as a feed for the production of liquid fuels and higher value chemicals. Catalysis plays a key role in the conversion of natural gas to chemical products and is increasingly involved in the use of natural gas for the energy sector. In addition to the chemical challenges that need to be met to upgrade natural gas, methane in particular, chemical engineering issues also have to be considered and resolved and economic considerations cannot be ignored. The interplay between all the above factors was discussed in great detail by lecturers from both Industry and Academia.
