摘要

Large retaining walls with high bending stiffness have been widely used,especially in coastal areas and riverbanks.Walls combining different types of sheet piles are practical,economical solutions for such retaining walls.A new type of combined wall consisting of hat-type sheet piles and hat-type plus H-section sheet piles has been developed.A full-scale embankment load test was carried out to investigate the bending stiffness of the new combined wall and to develop a design method.The test results show that the bending stiffness of the new walls can be evaluated as the average stiffness of the two types of sheet piles.
