The routine use of Uninhabited Air Systems (UAS) in non-segregated airspace presents manyrntechnological and regulatory challenges to the Aerospace Industry. This paper describes therndevelopment and key features of a new UAS avionic system designed to meet these challenges, thernAdvanced Autonomous Integrated Mission System (AAIMS). The paper gives an overview of thernsystems design process followed for AAIMS, its architectural design and its system componentsrnincluding autonomous decision making, sense and avoid, weather sensing and processing, forcedrnlanding and system health management.
